This week’s Boys Player of the Week goes to Johnson Central’s Brayden Shepherd. In the 2A Section 8 Tournament, Shepherd was simply on fire and played a major role in leading the Golden Eagles to the championship.
In the semifinal victory over Floyd Central, an impressive 81–59 win, Shepherd set the tone early and never let up. The junior finished with 20 points, showcasing his ability to score in multiple ways while helping Johnson Central take control of the game on both ends of the floor.
Shepherd saved his best performance for the championship game, turning in a dominant showing in an 84–78 victory over Lawrence County. He exploded for 37 points, knocking down eight three-pointers and consistently attacking the defense. Shepherd also came up big at the free-throw line late, helping seal the tournament title.
With back-to-back standout performances on the biggest stage, Brayden Shepherd proved to be the difference-maker for Johnson Central and is a well-deserving choice for APSN Boys Player of the Week.
