The Boys APSN Top 5 continues to see slight changes as our top eight teams shuffle positions. This week, however, the top four teams remain unchanged.
1) Martin County (NC)
Fresh off their All “A” Tournament championship, Martin County played just one game this week, earning a convincing win over Magoffin County.
2) Johnson Central (NC)
Johnson Central’s lone game this week resulted in a 17-point loss to Glasgow in the 2A State Tournament.
3) Pikeville (NC)
After their loss in the All “A” Tournament, the Panthers rebounded nicely with a pair of wins over Union (VA) and East Ridge. Pikeville had a big showdown against Shelby Valley on Tuesday.
4) Paintsville (NC)
The Tigers bounced back with two wins this week, defeating Magoffin County and Letcher Central. Paintsville faces a tough week ahead with matchups against Floyd Central (#5) and Pikeville (#3).
5) Floyd Central (NR)
The Jaguars went 1–1 on the week and move back into the Top 5 after earning a tough road win over Lawrence County. Floyd Central suffered a loss to Perry Central but will return home to take on Paintsville on Wednesday.
Next Up
Lawrence County
The Bulldogs remain right on the doorstep of the Top 5. Lawrence County picked up an impressive road win over Shelby Valley before falling at home to Floyd Central.
Shelby Valley
The Wildcats finished the week 1–1 with a loss to Lawrence County and a win over East Ridge.
Belfry
Belfry went 2–0 on the week with victories over Phelps and Lawrence County.
As we’ve said all season, the 15th Region is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in the state, with several teams capable of cutting down the nets and claiming the regional crown.
