Pike Central Jumps Out Early and Never Looks Back

The Owsley County Owls traveled to Buckley’s Creek on Saturday afternoon to take on Pike Central, but the Hawks wasted little time taking control and never relinquished it in a convincing 66–37 victory.

Pike Central came out firing, overwhelming the Owls in the opening quarter with relentless defensive pressure and efficient offense. The Hawks outscored Owsley County 23–5 in the first period, setting the tone for the afternoon. Point guard Colton Ratliff led the early charge, scoring eight points in the opening quarter while pushing the tempo and keeping the Owls on their heels.

The Hawks continued to dominate in the second quarter, extending the lead to 41–10 by halftime. Pike Central’s defense forced turnovers and limited clean looks, while the offense continued to capitalize. Inside, big man Owen Bowman asserted himself, scoring six of his 15 points in the second quarter to help stretch the margin before the break.

After halftime, Pike Central showed no signs of slowing down. The Hawks maintained their defensive intensity and controlled the pace of play, gradually pulling further away as the game wore on. Owsley County struggled to find rhythm against the Hawks’ pressure, while Pike Central’s balanced attack continued to produce on the offensive end.

By the final buzzer, Pike Central had secured a 66–37 win, showcasing depth, discipline, and defensive effort from start to finish.

Surplus Products Player of the Game honors went to Colton Ratliff, who finished with 16 points, 10 assists, and four steals, providing the spark that fueled the Hawks’ offense all day long.
