Jaguars Roll in Pre-Season Debut Under New Head Coach Matthew Perry

In the third game of the night, the Floyd Central Jaguars made a statement in their debut under new head coach Matthew Perry, and the Jaguar faithful had plenty to cheer about.

Floyd Central’s high-powered offense came out firing, racing to a commanding lead and never looking back. The Jaguars took a 41–21 advantage into halftime, thanks in large part to the hot hand of senior sharp shooter Dylan Boyd. The three-ball was falling early, as Boyd connected on three three-pointers on his way to 17 first-half points, earning him the Surplus Products Player of the Game honor.

After the break, the Jaguars continued to pour it on, stretching the lead to as many as 30 points before cruising to a 76–57 victory over the Grundy Golden Wave.

Grundy was led by senior Ethan McClanahan, who finished with a game-high 26 points, including five three-pointers. He was joined in double figures by fellow senior Logan Fuller, who added 10 points in the loss.

Floyd Central showcased a balanced attack with five players in double figures:

  • Dylan Boyd (Sr.) – 17 points
  • James Samons (Jr.) – 11 points
  • Lucas Howard (Fr.) – 10 points
  • Chris Spriggs (Sr., PG) – 10 points
  • Jaxon Johnson (Fr.) – 10 points

It was an impressive opening performance for Coach Perry’s squad, highlighted by energy, depth, and perimeter shooting.

Congratulations to Dylan Boyd on being named the Surplus Products Player of the Game!
