Hall Leads Second-Half Surge as Betsy Layne Tops Magoffin County

Stanville, Ky. — The Betsy Layne Bobcats used a dominant second-half surge to defeat the visiting Magoffin County Hornets 68–58 on Tuesday night in Stanville.

The Hornets controlled the early pace, fueled by senior standout Walker Russell, who poured in 14 of Magoffin County’s 30 first-half points. His effort helped the Hornets take a 30–25 lead into the halftime break.

Betsy Layne came out firing in the third quarter, finding its rhythm offensively and quickly erasing the deficit. The Bobcats scored 43 points in the second half, led by the steady play of junior guard Brayden Hall. Hall scored 14 of his game-high 20 points after halftime, knocking down two three-pointers and going 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.

In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats sealed the win with clutch foul shooting, finishing 9-of-13 at the stripe. Their late-game composure allowed them to pull away and secure the 10-point victory.
