Lady Cats Pull Away Late to Top Ridgeview at Jenkins Christmas Tournament

On day two of the Jenkins Christmas Tournament, the Betsy Layne Lady Cats faced the Ridgeview Lady Wolves of Clintwood, Virginia, in a hard-fought contest.

The game was back and forth throughout the first half, with Betsy Layne holding a narrow 24–21 lead at the break. Kinleigh Martin proved to be the difference early, scoring 12 points to account for half of the Lady Cats’ first-half total.

Ridgeview responded in the third quarter, battling back to tie the game at 35–35 behind Sutherland, who scored seven points in the period on her way to a game-high 20.

The fourth quarter belonged to Betsy Layne. The Lady Cats’ offense came alive, outscoring Ridgeview 22–8 over the final frame to pull away for a 57–43 victory.

Madi Collins fueled the decisive run, scoring nine of her 16 points in the fourth quarter while knocking down three three-point baskets. Her performance earned her Surplus Products Player of the Game honors.
