Shelby Valley Lady Cats Run Past East Ridge Lady Warriors

The East Ridge Lady Warriors made the short trip down U.S. 460 to take on the Shelby Valley Lady Cats in 59th District basketball action.

Shelby Valley jumped out to a quick start, taking a 20–12 first-quarter lead behind an offensive explosion from Lindsey Baldwin, who scored 10 points in the opening period, and Kylie Bowersock, who added 7.

In the second quarter, East Ridge managed to cut into the deficit, led by a 7-point quarter from Kourtlee Keene, trimming the Lady Cats’ lead to seven at halftime, 35–28.

The Lady Cats’ offense erupted once again in the third quarter, pouring in 22 points behind the dynamic duo of Bowersock, who scored 12 in the period, and Baldwin, who added 6. Shelby Valley outscored East Ridge 22–8 in the quarter to take a commanding 57–36 lead heading into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Bowersock continued her hot shooting, scoring another 7 points to finish with a game-high 31 points. Shelby Valley pulled away to secure a convincing 74–48 victory.

Bowersock’s 31-point performance earned her Surplus Products Player of the Game honors.
