The South Floyd Raiders traveled to Mustang Mountain to take on the Millard Mustangs in middle school action, and the Mustangs’ seventh grade squad set the tone early with relentless defensive pressure.
Millard jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter, using its length and athleticism to create easy transition opportunities. Tyson Hess and Garrett White were especially disruptive on the defensive end, helping the Mustangs build an 18–10 advantage by the end of the opening period.
In the second quarter, fifth grader Easton Lockhart stole the spotlight. After South Floyd cut the Mustang lead to five behind strong interior play from Lucas Curry, Lockhart answered in a big way. He knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter, sparking a 12–0 run to close the half and push Millard’s lead to 37–20.
The Mustangs showed no signs of slowing down after halftime. Their pressure defense continued to generate turnovers and easy baskets, allowing Millard to pull away and secure the 55–25 victory.
Lockhart finished the night with a game-high 15 points, earning Hall and Jones Funeral Home Player of the Game honors.
