Cougars Roll Past Pirates, 51–25

Belfry — The Elkhorn City Elementary Cougars continued their strong play on Friday night, pulling away from the Belfry Pirates for a convincing 51–25 victory in A Team middle school action.

Elkhorn City set the tone early, racing out to an 11–6 lead in the first quarter behind four quick points from Bryson Coleman.

The Cougars took firm control in the second period as Kadyn Adkins sparked the offense, knocking down a pair of three-pointers while scoring eight points in the quarter. Elkhorn City outscored Pond Creek 14–4 in the period and carried a 25–10 advantage into halftime, fueled by a stifling defensive effort.

Oliver Sesco provided the scoring punch in the third quarter, accounting for six points as the Cougars stretched the margin to 38–19.

Elkhorn City continued to build its lead in the fourth quarter, pulling away for the 26-point win.

Adkins finished with a game-high 16 points to earn Shelby Valley Diner Player of the Game honors. The win brings the Cougars A Team to 17-4 on the season.
