APSN Girls Player of the Week

Last week’s Girls Player of the Week honors go to Phelps Lady Hornets senior Caleigh McCoy. Over a three-game stretch, the Lady Hornets posted a 2–1 record, with their only loss coming in a hard-fought overtime thriller against Magoffin County. McCoy was a consistent leader throughout the week, producing strong performances in every contest.

In the opening game, Phelps cruised to a dominant 68–19 victory over Elliott County. McCoy led the way with 26 points, efficiently scoring from all areas of the floor while helping the Lady Hornets overwhelm Elliott County from the opening tip.

The following night brought a much tougher challenge, as Phelps fell 65–61 in overtime to Magoffin County. Despite the loss, McCoy turned in an outstanding effort, finishing with 28 points and keeping the Lady Hornets competitive throughout regulation and into the extra period.

Phelps closed out the week in strong fashion with a convincing 70–39 win over Jackson City. Once again, McCoy paced the offense, scoring 28 points as the Lady Hornets controlled the game on both ends of the floor.

The week also demonstrated a huge milestone for McCoy. Caleigh became the girls all-time leading scorer at Phelps.

With her scoring consistency, leadership, and impact across all three games, Caleigh McCoy proved to be the driving force for Phelps and is a well-deserving selection for APSN Girls Player of the Week.
