Braxton Davis has turned himself into one of the most complete defensive backs in Kentucky’s Class of 2026, and colleges are starting to notice.
Dual sport backbone of Lawrence County
Davis is a 5’10”, 160-pound senior at Lawrence County High School in Louisa, Kentucky, and a true dual sport athlete for the Bulldogs. He starts at wide receiver and cornerback on the football team and suits up for the varsity baseball program as well.
That kind of versatility has made him one of the faces of Lawrence County athletics and a key part of the Bulldogs’ recent success across multiple seasons.
2025 KHSAA breakout on defense
The 2025 KHSAA football season is where Davis really separated himself as a college prospect.
Lining up primarily at cornerback, Davis finished the year with 6 interceptions, 150 interception return yards, and 1 interception returned for a touchdown, according to the KHSAA’s Class 3A official stat leaders. Those numbers put him among the very best ballhawks in 3A football statewide; he was listed in the top tier of interception leaders and drew attention for his ability to flip the field in an instant.
Davis isn’t just a stat-line guy, though. Lawrence County leaned on him in big moments – from locking down opposing receivers in man coverage to jumping routes out of zone looks. His combination of instincts, timing, and sure hands helped the Bulldogs’ defense become one of the more opportunistic units in their class.
Multi-sport edge
College coaches also pay attention to what athletes do when the pads come off, and Davis checks those boxes as well. On the baseball field, that same agility and hand-eye coordination show up in his reads off the bat and his ability to track the ball in space – the same skills that make him dangerous reading quarterbacks in the secondary.
Recruiting: a growing list of options

As his 2025 KHSAA production and film have circulated, Davis’ recruiting profile has taken off. He now holds offers from a wide range of programs, including:
- Union Commonwealth University
- Midway University
- Culver-Stockton College
- Graceland University
- Eureka College
- Geneva College
- Thiel College
- Bonneville Academy
- San Diego Mesa College
- The College of Wooster
- Maine Maritime Academy
- Oakland City University
Taken together, that list shows how widely his skill set translates. NAIA, Division III, and junior college staffs see a defensive back who can cover, tackle, and take the ball away, plus contribute on offense and special teams if needed.
What colleges are getting in Braxton Davis
Whichever school ultimately lands Davis will be adding:
- A proven playmaker with top-tier KHSAA production in the secondary (6 INT, 150 return yards, 1 TD in 2025).
- A multi-sport competitor whose baseball background sharpen his footwork, vision, and competitiveness.
- A leader and veteran presence from a successful Lawrence County program, where he’s played key roles on both sides of the ball.
For now, Davis is focused on finishing his high school career the right way – adding more wins, more takeaways, and hopefully a deep playoff run for Lawrence County. But with his 2025 KHSAA production and a growing list of offers, he’s firmly on the radar as one of eastern Kentucky’s most intriguing defensive back prospects in the Class of 2026.
