The Pike Central Hawks took the floor on Saturday afternoon in the Jr. Newsome Classic and delivered a dominant performance against Bluegrass United. From the opening tip, the Hawks seized control behind the aggressive slashing of senior guard Will Rowe, who set the tone early with 9 first-half points.
Rowe wasn’t alone in powering the Hawks’ attack. Senior big man Owen Bowman was a force in the paint, using strong post moves and sharp footwork to rack up 10 points before halftime. The duo’s combined effort allowed Pike Central to build a commanding 28–13 lead at the break.
The second half brought more of the same, as the Hawks continued to apply pressure on both ends of the floor. Bowman finished the afternoon with 19 points while Rowe finished with 14 points, showcasing a balanced and efficient offensive approach that Bluegrass United struggled to contain.
For his dominant interior play and game-high impact, Owen Bowman was awarded the Surplus Products Player of the Game.
