Lady Blackcats Earn Hard-Fought Win at Jim Rose Classic

On Saturday, the Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats traveled to Lexington Christian Academy to compete in the Central Bank Jim Rose Classic.

Prestonsburg opened tournament play against 11th Region foe Madison Central in a tightly contested matchup. The first quarter saw the teams go back and forth, with Jade Fitzpatrick scoring six points to keep the Lady Blackcats within one, trailing 11–10 at the end of the period.

The Prestonsburg offense found its rhythm in the second quarter behind the one-two punch of Fitzpatrick and Allison Howard. The duo scored five points apiece in the quarter, helping the Lady Blackcats take a 30–26 lead into halftime.

The nip-and-tuck battle continued throughout the second half as both teams traded baskets down the stretch. Prestonsburg was able to hold on in the closing moments, securing a hard-earned 58–55 victory.

The Lady Blackcats were led in scoring by Jade Fitzpatrick, who finished with 24 points. Fitzpatrick’s performance earned her Surplus Products Player of the Game honors.
