Martin County Lady Cardinals Defeat Betsy Layne Ladycats in Tough 15th Region Battle

The Martin County Lady Cardinals protected their home court on Wednesday night, securing a 57–49 victory over the Betsy Layne Ladycats in a hard-fought 15th Region matchup. Both teams battled through momentum swings and defensive pressure, but Martin County’s balanced scoring and strong early quarters proved to be the difference.

Martin County struck early, posting 16 points in the opening frame and adding another 22 points in the second quarter. That first-half burst positioned the Lady Cardinals to control the pace the rest of the way.

Betsy Layne showed resilience in the second half, outscoring Martin County in both the third and fourth quarters (14 and 13 points respectively). The Ladycats clawed back into the game behind several key scoring performances, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.

Martin County’s consistent offensive production, paired with timely baskets late, allowed them to close out the win and move one step forward in 15th Region play.
