In a highly competitive varsity contest between Pikeville and Elliott County, fans were treated to an exciting back-and-forth battle that wasn’t decided until the final half. The opening half showcased strong offensive performances on both sides, with neither team able to establish separation.
For Pikeville, the senior duo of Jackson Keene and Carter Parsons set the tone early. Keene scored 10 first-half points while Parsons added 9, combining for 19 of the Panthers’ 32 points before the break. Despite the production, Pikeville couldn’t shake the Lions, who were kept firmly in the game by standout big man Tysen Crabtree. Crabtree powered Elliott County with 9 first-half points, helping the Lions send the game into halftime deadlocked at 32–32.
The second half shifted dramatically in the Panthers’ favor as Carter Parsons and Mark Bowling took over. Parsons poured in 13 more points to finish with a team-high 22, while Bowling provided a major spark by adding 11 of his own. The biggest difference came from beyond the arc, where Pikeville buried eight three-pointers in the second half alone, fueling their separation from the Lions.
The late offensive surge propelled the Panthers to a 77–64 victory. For his all-around impact and 22-point effort, Carter Parsons was awarded the Surplus Products Player of the Game honor.
