Panthers Use Second-Quarter Surge to Defeat Patriots on the Road

In a marquee 14th vs. 15th Region matchup, the Pikeville Panthers traveled to the Morton Combs Athletic Center in Hindman, KY, to take on the homestanding Knott County Central Patriots.

The Patriots came out firing in the opening quarter, jumping ahead 14–11 after an energetic start. But the momentum swung dramatically in the second period. Pikeville’s defensive intensity smothered the Patriot offense, holding Knott Central scoreless for the entire quarter. The Panthers strung together a dominant 15-0 run to take a 26–14 lead into the break.

The second half followed a similar script. Pikeville continued to dictate the pace with its defense, and in the fourth quarter the Panthers clamped down once again—limiting the Patriots to just four points—as they pulled away for a convincing 59–35 victory.

Senior Jackson Keene led the offensive attack for Pikeville, pouring in a game-high 20 points to earn our Surplus Products Player of the Game honor.
