In another classic 15th Region girls’ basketball matchup, the Pikeville Lady Panthers traveled to the historic Prestonsburg Fieldhouse to take on the homestanding Lady Blackcats.
Pikeville wasted no time asserting control, jumping out to a decisive first-quarter lead behind the sharp shooting of junior Cat Walters, who poured in 8 points in the opening period to help build a 9-point advantage, 19-10..
Prestonsburg senior Shay Music worked to keep the Blackcats within reach in the second quarter, knocking down a pair of three-pointers. However, Pikeville closed the half on a small run, maintaining momentum and taking a 30–23 lead at the break. Walters added another 8-point quarter, giving her 16 first-half points.
The Panthers caught fire in the third quarter, led by standout play from Nicole Lin. Pikeville outscored Prestonsburg 24–5 in the period, surging ahead to a commanding 54–28 lead heading into the final frame.
Lin continued her strong performance in the fourth quarter, finishing with 24 points and earning Surplus Products Player of the Game honors as the Panthers cruised to a 71–39 victory. Below is list of their top 3 scorers:
