Three-Point Barrage Leads Pikeville Past Rowan County

PIKEVILLE — The Pikeville Panthers put on a shooting clinic Friday night in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament (PIT), rolling past the Rowan County Vikings 102–51 behind a record-tying performance from Carter Parsons.

Pikeville wasted no time getting its offense going. The Panthers erupted for 33 first-quarter points, fueled by 11 points each from Cole Alone and Carter Parsons, to take an early 33–14 lead. Parsons knocked down three three-pointers in the opening quarter to set the tone.

The momentum carried into the second period as Pikeville continued to stretch the lead. Parsons added two more triples, and the Panthers went into halftime comfortably ahead 51–27.

The third quarter turned into a showcase for the Pikeville backcourt. Parsons caught fire again, draining five three-pointers for 17 points in the period alone. Senior guard Jackson Keene also took over, scoring 12 of his 21 points in the third. By the end of the quarter, Pikeville had built an overwhelming 84–37 advantage.

In the fourth quarter, Parsons buried his 11th three-pointer of the night, tying the school record, as the Panthers cruised to the 102–51 victory.

Parsons finished with a game-high 40 points, including 11 made three-pointers, earning Surplus Products Player of the Game honors.

The win moves Pikeville to 5-0 on the season as they will host Pendleton County tomorrow at 7:00 PM. The loss will drop Rowan 2-3 on the season as they will face off against 14th Region powerhouse Hazard in Pikeville at 3:00 PM.
